Letter to Editor: Melissa of Chattanooga, TN

December 10, 2016

Melissa of Chattanooga, TN writes:

I am a 46 year old, single female with no children living in Chattanooga, Tn.  Until I was able to get insured under the ACA (Obamacare) I had only a couple of jobs that provided insurance coverage. I had a history of endometriosis which had been treated surgically years ago. About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and placed on maintenance medications.  I could not afford the drugs and to pay my bills without insurance.  I signed up with the ACA last year and have been able to work and afford the medicines I take.  Obamacare saved my life and I will be forever grateful.  This past year my payments were $167.00 but since my salary has decreased I will only have to pay $43.00 this year.  If I did not have coverage just one of my medications would cost almost $300.00 a month and now I pay 25.00.

Please contact your state senators and representatives to beg them not to repeal Obamacare.  Insurance companies do not need to be in the middle between us and our Doctors.

Help Melissa get this message heard by adding your voice.

We’re stronger together.
