Letter to Editor: Jack of Murfreesboro, TN

January 6, 2017

Jack of Murfreesboro, TN writes:

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

Lately, I hardly recognize my country. It seems un-American to let human beings die simply because they don’t have as much money as others. I used to have plenty of money. But I got sick in 2013, though I didn’t know what it was.

I was diagnosed with leukemia in 2015. And because I’m self employed, the Marketplace saved my life, literally.

As I mentioned, I was sick and didn’t know why. I had not been able to work consistently for a few years, and had gone through all my savings, just in basic living expenses. Had the ACA not removed pre-existing conditions, I would have been unable to receive the care I needed.

Now, it seems, we return to uncertain times. You are a rich, powerful and influential man. Please think of those of your fellow Tenneseans and Americans who cannot say the same, but who are still children of God, fighting for their lives every day.

I ask you to look deeply into your own soul, and to put the right thing before what might be politically expedient.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Jack Raines, Jr.

Help Jack get this message heard by adding your voice.

We’re stronger together.
