Letter to Editor: Greg of Pikeville, TN

Over the course of my lifetime, I have witnessed the financial hardship individuals and families often experience in the aftermath of an accident, illness, or just accessing routine, preventative physical and emotional care. Prior to the ACA, families and individuals without affordable healthcare often sought primary care via emergency rooms, school nurses, and other publicly accessible resources or simply went without primary care until their condition became critical.

I am a retired educator (high school principal and teacher), and currently serve as a university professor.  I am the owner of Harwood Mediation, a small business dedicated to civil and family mediations located in southeast Tennessee, and also work in insurance.

Many of my family members benefit from the ACA.  They receive levels of care that would not otherwise have been provided to them.  Because of the ACA, many of them could afford quality health insurance or other benefits. If the ACA is repealed my family members and other members in my community could be in jeopardy.

Senator Alexander, please vote NO on this rush to repeal the Affordable Care Act.  Until another plan is proposed, I say NO to repealing the Affordable Care Act.
