The ACA or some people call it Obama Care, saved my life. At 58 years old, I was diagnosed with Leukemia. I needed a Bone Marrow transplant. I was employed for 15 years at the Vanderbilt School of Nursing. When my sick days were gone, I was terminated & offered medical insurance thru COBRA which was about $20,oo0 per year, it also had co-pays and it expired in 18 months. It it wasn’t for the ACA accepting people with pre-existing conditions I would be dead.  The Affordable Care Act went into effect just in time for me and I thank God for it. It’s been a long struggle for me. Because I have received excellent healthcare from Vanderbilt and the ACA covered me, I’m alive today. My husband and I have had firsthand experience with a serious health crisis, loss of employment, income & medical insurance. Not being able to get medical coverage could mean life or death or bankruptcy for most Americans. The ACA provided me with peace of mind, affordable healthcare and saved my family from bankruptcy.

I am lucky , I had healthcare when I needed it most. I hope all Tennesseans & Americans who need healthcare have the chance I had. I do not want the ACA to be repealed or replaced.
