I am a middle-aged woman who moved to Dallas 5 years ago to do a Masters program to re-tool and make a career change. I will likely be doing nonprofit work, and will likely not have access to health care for myself and my self-employed husband. Since both my husband and I have pre-existing conditions, we’ve been turned down for health care for years. has been There are millions for people like myself …
I am fearful that when Republicans repeal the ACA, my family will, once again, not have insurance. There are millions of people like myself in the greater Dallas area – not privileged to have a job that provides health care. And, with our age or pre-existing condition, insurance companies will deny us. This should NOT be!!
Pre-ACA, my husband, my daughter and myself were not insurable because of simple pre-existing conditions. Those were challenging years for us.
Please, please do NOT repeal our hope for health care … unless you can assure my family, and the millions who are like me, that your plan to insure Americans will give us what we’ve had with the ACA, at the very least.
