I live in Bearden with my husband. I went to grad school and found a job immediately afterward. Unfortunately, when the recession hit, I got laid off. I worked temp jobs and did freelance work for about two years before I found another permanent job that provides benefits.
Because of the Affordable Care Act, I could purchase health insurance. It was a huge relief to know that I was covered if something happened. I have a pre-existing condition that I don’t think of as a big deal. However, it made other insurance options unaffordable. My husband and I also weren’t financially ready to have children. The Affordable Care Act required my insurance company to cover birth control. I cannot describe the peace of mind that came with being able to plan when to start a family.
I had access to healthcare and health insurance on the exchanges when I could not have gotten it otherwise. I am so grateful for the Affordable Care Act!
